John Danby Racing was established in 2002 and has quickly established itself as a leading race team and engineering organisation. Team founder and accomplished Race Engineer John Danby established the team after three years with Lotus Motorsport as Chief Engineer. During this time he was instrumental in the design, development and manufacture of the Lotus Exige race car as well as overseeing all engineering activities for the Autobytel Lotus Championship. From its base in Colchester, Essex, John Danby Racing has prepared and run cars in a variety of championships including Britcar, GT Cup, Elise Trophy, Historic Group C, Thoroughbred Grand Prix, Sports 2000, VdeV and British Formula Ford.

John Danby Racing offer extensive expertise in racecar preparation and setup. We have the resources to ensure maximum competitiveness at all levels of motorsport, from De Dion suspension to a multi channel OBR Power box on a CAN bus system

With a depth of engineering knowledge, John Danby Racing specialises in prototype engineering, component design, development and manufacture. Our Colchester facility is fully equipped with the latest CNC and fabrication machinery

Historic Road and Rally
John Danby Racing provide on-event support for road rallies and classic tours. A long term supporter of The Three Castles, Welsh Classic Trials, we offer full rally support by a dedicated team of mechanics to ensure your event runs smoothly.
Machining and Fabrication
John Danby Racing's in-house CNC machine shop is quickly able to manufacture parts from samples, 2D drawings or full 3D CAD models. We offer bespoke engineering solutions for the automotive industry, whether a one-off or a batch of components
